Attention Farmers: We Need Your Support to Protect Agricultural Land
Since early 2023, dedicated working groups across TKUP have been working tirelessly to challenge a flawed and poorly conceived infrastructure project that threatens our agricultural land, businesses, and communities. Through meticulous research and strategic engagement, we have made significant progress—raising serious concerns at the highest levels of government and within SSEN.
Farmers, in particular, face serious risks from this project, including:
Soil Contamination & Disease Spread: Large-scale infrastructure development could act as a super-spreader event for PCN (Potato Cyst Nematode) and other soil-borne pathogens, with devastating consequences for crop health and yields.
Disruption to future Farming Operations: The infrastructure design poses risks to normal agricultural activities..
Loss of Land & Business Devaluation: The permanent loss of productive farmland and reduced land values could have long-term financial impacts on farm businesses.
Impact on Livestock: Electromagnetic fields (EMF) generated by high-voltage infrastructure— will operating at an unprecedented high voltage and load in Angus—raise serious concerns for embryo development in breeding livestock.
Threats to Future Farming Technology: The adoption of autonomous vehicles and drone applications in modern precision farming could be severely restricted in corridor fields.
Despite these serious concerns, the Scottish Government is now taking steps to bypass democratic processes, deny a public inquiry, and push this project forward without proper oversight or scrutiny.
We must take action.
The Next Step: Strengthening Our Position
To delay and challenge this project effectively, we need to put our fight on solid ground. Securing expert advice is crucial. We urgently need to raise £10,000 to engage a Planning Consultant and a Landscape Architect, whose expertise will be instrumental in strengthening our case.
Time is running out. The OHL application could be submitted as early as April, and we must have our consultants in place before then.

Together, we can defend Scottish agriculture from this reckless development.
