APAG met Mairi Gougeon today

In the short time available we managed to put across several points.

  1. SSEN continue with their project, the biggest in Scotland since the end of WW2, while taking little to no local knowledge into account.

  2. Much of the current project costings are based on out of date information and are not only inaccurate but massively underestimated.

  3. The stresses on local communities are creating a devastating breakdown in multi-generational relationships.

  4. We asked why has SSEN been given unlimited access to Holyrood parliamentarians while no access has been granted to local communities?

  5. We stressed the importance of immediate face-to-face discussions with members of the Scottish Government to allow a fair representation of the communities' feelings and knowledge on both the project and its impacts.
